Visian ICL

STAAR Visian™ Implantable Contact Lens

The STAAR Visian ICL™ received FDA approval in 2005. This lens is implanted in front of the natural lens for the correction of myopia with or without astigmatism. Visian™ is made of collamer, which consists of copolymer and collagen. Collamer is a flexible, biocompatible material that transmits light and reduces reflections for clear, crisp vision. Its unique foldable design allows it to be inserted through a tiny incision in an outpatient procedure that lasts less than 15 minutes. Visian™ does not affect the cornea and, therefore, may be an ideal option for patients with thin corneas. And, since it is inserted in front of the natural lens, the procedure is reversible.
